Smeagol mask (Gollum)

Gollum, born as the Hobbit Sméagol, is a character from the books The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings by the British writer J.R.R. Tolkien.

The name Gollum probably originated from the peculiar throat sounds he produced, but can also refer to the Jewish legend about Golem. He was born around the year 2440 of the Third Era. His date of death was 25 March 3019. So at his death he was 580 years old, a remarkable age for a hobbit.
